As the successor to the UN Decade of ESD (DESD) (2005-2014) and the Global Action Programme on ESD (GAP) (2015-2019), the international implementation framework for ESD in the period 2020-2030, Education for Sustainable Development: Towards the realisation of the SDGs (ESD for 2030), was adopted by the 40th UNESCO General Conference in November 2019 and endorsed by the 74th UN General Conference in December 2019.ESD for 2030 aims to contribute to a more just and sustainable world through strengthening ESD and contributing to the realisation of all 17 SDG targets.
